Liberty Dog Barkery began in 2016 when the name-brand dog food we were feeding our fur babies was recalled because it poisoned and killed thousands of dogs. I decided at that point to no longer put them at risk, and began making our own dog food and treats ever since.

 

In 2022, the timing was right to start Liberty Dog Barkery and share my love of making healthy dog treats. That year, I entered the Round Rock Small Business Plan Competition hosted by the local library, placing second overall. I then started baking out of our home in Round Rock, attending Austin-area markets and collaborating with other small business owners. Our then-senior dog, Jayce, was appointed Head of Quality Control; if he didn't like it, it wasn't on the menu!

In 2024, my husband, Kevin, suddenly passed away. My daughter, Kathryn, and I decided to move to the Houston area for a fresh start and to be closer to family. In early 2026, we found our first store in Vintage Park, and knew it had to be a sign. Just before opening in July of 2026, our honorary CEO and Head Taste Tester, Jayce, passed away from cancer. Although he wasn't with us to start this next chapter, he remains the reason why Liberty Dog Barkery began, and at the core of our mission.​​
